(a) After adopting the resolution ordering the formation of
the school facilities improvement district, the governing board may
provide for and call a special bond election within the school
facilities improvement district pursuant to Chapter 1 (commencing
with Section 15100) and, if applicable, pursuant to Chapter 1.5
(commencing with Section 15264), except as otherwise provided in this
chapter, for the approval of a proposition of whether an
indebtedness of the school facilities improvement district shall be
incurred through the issuance of bonds for the school facilities
improvement district. The election shall be deemed to be a school
district or community college district election, as appropriate, for
purposes of Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 15100).
(b) The indebtedness and the bonds shall be payable from taxes to
be levied and collected upon lands located within the school
facilities improvement district. The bonds shall be deemed to be
bonds of the school district or community college district that
created the school facilities improvement district, issued for the
benefit of the land within the school facilities improvement
district.
Any qualified elector who is a resident of the territory of
the school facilities improvement district may vote on the
proposition of issuing bonds of the school facilities improvement
district.
