(a) As a condition of federal funds provided under the Carl
D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Act of 1998 (20 U.S.C.
Sec. 2301 et seq.) or any successor thereof, and to the extent
permitted by federal law, a community college shall develop a plan
for enabling the development of course sequences that span courses
provided in grades 7 to 12, inclusive, courses provided by regional
occupational centers or programs, and courses provided by community
college vocational education programs. The community college shall
consult with the school districts and regional occupational centers
or programs in the area served by the college, and with the relevant
local workforce investment board, in the development of the plan. The
plan shall do all of the following:
(1) Identify the occupational areas in which the college and high
schools or regional occupational centers and programs offer
instruction.
(2) Describe the plan the community college will follow to create
the sequences required under subdivision (c) of Section 52302.
(3) Establish an institutionwide process and criteria for awarding
community college credit for vocational courses taken by pupils in
high school or through the regional occupational center or program.
(b) The plan shall be adopted by the governing board of the
community college district on or before July 1, 2008. Copies of the
plan shall be submitted to the appropriate school districts and
regional occupational centers or programs, and the chancellor.
