The Trustees of the California State University and any
other public or private nonprofit agency may contract with the State
Department of Education to establish and maintain a child development
center on or near each state university campus pursuant to the
provisions of Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 8200) of Part 6.
The trustees and any other public or private nonprofit
agency may contract with the Department of Education to establish and
maintain such campus childdevelopment centers. Such operating
agencies may accept student fees, parent fees, and private funds to
operate child development centers and may be reimbursed for eligible
costs pursuant to Sections 16708 and 16780.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, children under
two years of age whose parent or parents are students may attend
child development centers consistent with the priorities established.
Each child development center maintained pursuant to Section
89400 shall have an advisory council, composed of representatives of
the parent-users and persons from fields related to the well-being
of children.
