Butter which is received in this state by brokers, jobbers,
and other persons that receive butter in cubes, tubs, firkins, or
other bulk packages shall be labeled with all of the following:
(a) The name and address of the manufacturer.
(b) The date on which the butter was manufactured.
(c) The original lot or churn number.
The markings shall remain on the packages until the butter
which is contained in the packages is cut and wrapped for the retail
trade.
The name of any city, county, or other geographical
designation, or any word which may be pronounced the same as any
city, county, or other geographical designation, except the address
of the manufacturer, wholesale distributor, or retailer, whose name
is printed on any package or wrapper, shall not appear upon any
package or wrapper.
This article does not prohibit the use of a trademark or
brand which has a geographical name if it was copyrighted or
registered in the office of the Secretary of State of this state
prior to Janaury 1, 1923.
