Article 3. Standards Generally of California Food And Agricultural Code >> Division 16. >> Chapter 4. >> Article 3.
The following fruits and vegetables shall not be canned,
packed, shipped, or sold within this state:
(a) Fruits or vegetables which are unclean, immature, mouldy,
overripe, infested with brown rot, scab, shothole fungus, or other
defects to the extent of rendering the product unwholesome.
(b) Olives which are unclean, immature, mouldy, overripe, infested
with fungus, rot, or other defects to the extent of rendering the
product unwholesome.
(c) Olives which are processed or artificially colored to the
extent that the meat has been turned black, or the flavor has been
impaired.
In addition to the standards and requirements which are
prescribed by Section 41361, the standard of quality, condition, and
fill of container and requirements for marking of canned fruits and
vegetables are those which are promulgated or to be promulgated by
the Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture.
