. Between January 1 and March 31 of each fifth calendar year
commencing with the year 1972, the director shall cause a referendum
to be conducted by the commission among producers in the manner
prescribed in Section 65573 to determine whether the operations of
the provisions of this chapter shall be reapproved and continued
effective. The vote for approval and continuation shall be the same
as used for the original approval of the provisions of this chapter.
If the commission finds that a favorable vote has been given, it
shall so certify to the director and all provisions of this chapter
shall remain effective. If the commission finds that a favorable vote
has not been given, it shall so certify to the director who shall
declare the operation of the provisions of this chapter and the
commission suspended upon the expiration of the current marketing
season ending April 30. Thereupon, the operations of the commission
shall be wound up and funds distributed in the manner provided in
Sections 65662 and 65663. No bond or security shall be required for
any such referendum.
