The Governor may appoint and fix the salaries of such
assistants and other personnel as he deems necessary for his office.
No salary fixed under this section shall exceed the annual salary
paid state officers pursuant to Section 11552, except the salary of
the Executive Secretary to the Governor shall not exceed the annual
salary paid state officers pursuant to Section 11550.
The Governor shall appoint a person to represent the state
in Washington, D.C. to identify revenue sources available to the
state in connection with the closure and conversion of military bases
in the state. The representative shall be appointed or selected by,
and report to, the Governor or a member of the Governor's cabinet, as
decided by the Governor.
The person appointed by the Governor pursuant to Section
12001.5 shall furnish the Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Clerk
of the Assembly an annual report of his or her activities related to
the appointed position.
Every law of this State relating to the powers and duties of
the Governor and to acts and duties to be performed by others toward
him extends to the person performing for the time being the duties
of Governor.
