. In each county having a population of more than 95,000 and
less than 120,000, as determined by the 1960 federal census, to
assist the court in the transaction of its judicial business, a
majority of the judges of the superior court for such county may
appoint as many regular official phonographic reporters as necessary
to report the proceedings in the court. The number of reporters so
appointed shall not exceed at any one time the number of judges
provided by law for the court. The reporters shall hold office during
the pleasure of a majority of the judges of the court.
