(a) All sworn personnel of the former Stanislaus County marshal's office who are assigned to court services on the date of the elimination of the marshal's office shall become members of the sheriff's Court Services Bureau, with those permanent employees holding the rank of deputy marshal becoming deputy sheriff coroners.
  (b) Sworn personnel may be transferred to another position in the sheriff's office at the same or equivalent classification, but shall not be involuntarily transferred out of the Court Services Bureau.

(a) This article shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2018, and as of that date is repealed unless a later enacted statute, which is enacted before January 1, 2018, deletes or extends that date.
  (b) The repeal of this article does not affect any right or benefit to which a person was entitled on the date of repeal.
