Each member of the board of directors shall receive compensation in an amount not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) for each attendance at the meeting of the board held within the district, which amount shall be fixed from time to time by the board. No director, however, shall receive pay for more than four meetings in any calendar month. Each director shall be allowed, with the approval of the board, all traveling and other expenses necessarily incurred by the member in the performance of the member's duties. For purposes of this section, the determination of whether a director's activities on any specific day are compensable shall be made pursuant to Article 2.3 (commencing with Section 53232) of Chapter 2 of Part 1 of Division 2 of Title 5 of the Government Code. Reimbursement for these expenses is subject to Sections 53232.2 and 53232.3 of the Government Code.
