. If, on the sixty-fifth day prior to the day fixed for the
district general election, only one person has been nominated for
each office of member of the board to be filled at that election,
said board shall by resolution entered in their minutes order that an
election shall not be held, and shall immediately request that the
board of supervisors of the principal county, at a regular or special
meeting held prior to the day of election, appoint, and the board of
supervisors shall thereupon appoint, to the office or offices the
person or persons who have been nominated. The person appointed shall
qualify and take office and serve exactly as if elected at a
district general election.
In such case, the publication provided for in Section 60111 shall,
instead of calling an election, state that no election is to be held
but that the board of supervisors will appoint those nominated for
the positions of directors.
